Dermatologists’ Top Five Skin-Care Tips of All Time

0

Dermatologists: Are you in need of skin care advice? Continue reading to discover five skin-care tips and tricks — all of which have been dermatologist-approved.

  1. Combat nighttime dehydration.

If you have dry skin in the morning, alter your bedtime routine, not your morning one. It is much easier to prevent dryness at night than it is to reverse it the following day.

  1. When applying products, take your time.

Allow two or three minutes for each product to absorb before applying the next one.

  1. Take care of yourself with a sheet mask.

Sheet masks infuse the skin with hydrating ingredients. Apply one over your moisturizer at night for ten minutes and your skin will be dewy the next day.

  1. Salicylic acid is despised by blackheads.

Salicylic acid is best used to treat blackheads and whiteheads. If it dries you out, look for it in a face wash and apply it for 30 seconds to your skin.

  1. Bring an extra pillow to help with puffy eyes.

If you wake up with puffy eyes, sleep with an additional pillow beneath your head — gravity drains enough fluid to help with the next day’s puffiness.

Are Face Mists An Effective Answer To Skin Hydration?

0

Skin Hydration: In the last five years, we have been introduced to many skincare products that are different in terms of technology, innovation, format, texture, and type. Fairly new to this storm of products are face mists which existed in the past but, thanks to the brand position and marketing, were never sold rigorously. Face mists have captured a fair amount of market and let’s accept it, most of us carry a travel-sized bottle in our handbags, especially if you face the perils of staying in a hot and humid city. What feels better than a refreshing spritz on the face on a hot day on field, right?

However, beyond providing a cooling effect and lingering fragrance, are these an effective answer to boost skin hydration? Could there be a flip side to face mists? What’s the right order of including these in a skincare routine? We investigated.

How Do Face Mists Work?
More than a refreshing pick-me-up, face mists are now designed to deliver active and potent ingredients to the skin while also working on skin hydration and nourishment. “Face mists are fluid skincare products that are packed with ingredients which give hydration to the skin.

As we are looking for skin hydration, ingredients play an important role. Products with humectants are beneficial. “Ingredients you should look for in a mist include names like hyaluronic acid, glycerin tea tree oil, cica, vitamin C, niacinamide,” says Dr Nazim. With that, there’s a host of ingredients to be avoided; make sure to go through the ingredient label and steer clear of ingredients like alcohol and fragrances that might irritate the skin especially if you have sensitive skin type.

5 Easy Tips for Fixing and Preventing Brittle Nails Due to Increased Household Chores

0

Allow yourself to be uplifted by the stress of your deteriorating nail health because we have the ideal solution for you. Continue reading for five incredibly simple yet highly effective tips on how to repair brittle nails and prevent further damage.

  1. Utilize cuticle oil.

If you want longer, stronger nails, you must invest in cuticle oil. Due to the increased amount of hand washing and household chores, your nails tend to dry out quickly and require additional nourishment. Applying cuticle oil to your nails hydrates and repairs them, thereby strengthening them and preventing chipping and breakage.

  1. Use hand cream.

As with the skin on your face, the skin on your hands is prone to becoming dry and in need of moisture. Applying hand cream after washing your hands or doing the dishes is an excellent way to prevent dehydration of your nails and surrounding skin, thereby strengthening brittle nails.

  1. Put on gloves

Your nails become dry as a result of SLS and other surfactants found in soaps and detergents, resulting in ridges, split nails, and generally weak and brittle nails. However, a simple way to protect your nails is to wear gloves when doing dishes or other household chores. This simple step will keep your hands and nails safe from those chemicals and will keep them stronger and healthier.

  1. Maintain short nails

If you notice that your nails are extremely brittle and easily break, consider trimming them. Short nails are less likely to break due to the absence of exposed edges that can tear and snag. Additionally, shorter nails require less TLC and are easier to maintain.

  1. Drink plenty of water and eat a balanced diet

These tips will be ineffective unless you hydrate and nourish your body from within. Consume at least 8 to 10 tall glasses of water daily to keep your nails moist and prevent them from chipping and peeling. Additionally, consume a balanced diet rich in essential vitamins and nutrients (include more vegetables, nuts, and protein) to promote stronger, healthier nail growth.

Pico Genesis: What You Need to Know About This Procedure

0

Pico Genesis is a laser procedure used to improve the appearance of hyperpigmentation, including dark spots, freckles, sunspots, age spots, melasma, and other pigmentary concerns. It can also improve signs of sun damage by reducing the appearance of pores and pigmented lesions, smoothing fine lines and wrinkles, and helping clear up acne.

Manufactured by Cutera, Pico Genesis uses Enlighten picosecond laser technology at two different wavelengths (532 nm green light and infrared light) to deliver super-quick pulses to the skin, breaking up high concentrations or clumps of excess pigment (melanin) while stimulating new collagen growth in the dermis, below the skin’s surface.

What are the pros and cons of Pico Genesis?

Pros
  • Pain is minimal, and there’s no downtime. You may have some redness and light flaking, but you can resume your normal routine right away.
  • The lightning-fast picosecond pulses reduce the chance of scarring and pigmentation problems, even for people with brown and deep skin tones (a common concern with most pigment-targeting lasers).
  • It’s not just for brown spots: picosecond technology was originally designed for laser tattoo removal.

Cons

  • At least three Pico Genesis treatments are needed to see significant results, and some people need even more. RealSelf members who said it was “Not Worth It” didn’t see many changes after their first treatment.
  • You’ll be more sun-sensitive afterward, so you’ll need to pay more attention to covering up when you’re outside and be vigilant about applying sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or more to avoid new sun damage.
  • While it is suitable for people with tan, brown, or deep skin tones, people who naturally have more melanin do have an increased risk of hypo- or hyperpigmentation following a Pico Genesis treatment. If this is a concern, your provider may prescribe a hydroquinone cream to pretreat your skin. This powerful depigmenting agent inhibits melanin production, reducing your risk.

4 Reasons Why You Need Soap-Free Face Wash For Sensitive Skin

0

When you want the best for your skin, it’s critical to understand which products to use and which to avoid. What if you have extremely sensitive skin? Prudence is the name of the game. While many of the ingredients in skincare products appear to be harmless, they can actually cause havoc on your skin. Soap is one such ingredient. As a result, we’ve compiled a list of four reasons why you should switch to a soap-free face wash immediately!

  1. Prevents skin deterioration

Because soaps are alkaline, they aggravate skin sensitivity and associated problems such as redness, inflammation, and flakiness. Additionally, a strong alkaline formula impairs the skin’s ability to inhibit MPPs (matrix metalloproteinases), causing collagen damage and premature aging. Thus, switching from a soap-based cleanser to a soap-free face wash ensures that no alkaline residue remains on your sensitive skin after dirt and impurities are removed.

  1. Prevents the loss of moisture

Soaps, which are frequently found in cleansers and other skin and hair care products, are sodium salts derived from fatty acids. Because soaps are naturally attracted to water and oil, they are extremely effective cleaners. Then what is the issue? Because soaps are so effective at what they do, they strip the skin of its natural oils and moisture. This can result in the skin becoming taut and rough. This can be avoided by using a soap-free formula.

  1. Will not irritate the skin

By default, a soap-free face wash contains nourishing ingredients and emulsifying agents that enable oil and water to mix effectively and effectively remove surface-level oiliness. While soap can easily dehydrate the skin, a soap-free cleanser will remove impurities and leave it soft and supple, without causing signs of dryness or hydration loss

  1. Enriched with skin-beneficial ingredients

The best part about a soap-free face wash is that the soap is replaced with gentler ingredients that nourish the skin over time. To determine whether or not a face wash contains soap, check the ingredient list for names that begin with sodium or potassium and end in the suffix ‘ate,’ such as Sodium Gluconate.

11 Surprising Health Benefits Of Ozone Facial Therapy

Ozone therapy is one of the most-discussed alternative treatments within the chronic illness community—and for good reason. Mixing this gas naturally found in Earth’s atmosphere with oxygen creates a treatment with the potential for powerful healing capabilities. Ozone works by stimulating the immune system.

What Is Ozone Facial Therapy And How Does It Work?

Medical ozone is made by passing oxygen through an electrical coil, giving it three atoms, which change O2 (oxygen) into O3 (ozone).

Ozone can be administered in the ears, rectum, vagina and bladder or delivered intramuscularly, via autohemotherapy or subcutaneously. It also can be delivered by ozone steam sauna.

The administration of ozone into the body is done a couple of ways: directly into the point of pain or disease or into the blood, letting this “supercharged” oxygen do its work.

11 Benefits Of Ozone Therapy

1. Boost Your Immune System

Ozone therapy has the potential to modify the immune system to better cope with inflammation. Many people suffer from conditions that cause inflammation. For example, inflammatory markers are often found in the blood of asthmatics. Inflammation can lead to oxidative stress and is associated with pain and discomfort.

Ozone is a powerful antioxidant that helps reduce the oxidative damage caused by chronic inflammation to your body and your DNA and mitigates the risk of disease. It’s also been found to increase the activity of antioxidant enzymes in the body.

2. Antibacterial, Antifungal, And Antiviral Abilities

With so many bacteria becoming antibiotic-resistant, scientists have been looking for new means of dealing with bacterial infections along with novel treatments for fungal and viral infections.

There have been many studies into the infection control properties of ozone. One found that ozone therapy could completely resolve an acute bacterial infection caused by a tick bite within 24-48 hours. For anyone suffering from Lyme disease and other tick-associated illnesses, this is great news.

Ozone therapy may also treat and prevent viral infections like the flu, which is encouraging for anyone who finds themselves especially susceptible to winter bugs.

Is LED Facial Treatment Worth Doing? Get To Know It All

LED light therapy is a popular non-invasive skin treatment for acne, sun damage, wounds, and other skin problems. People can choose to have LED facial treatment at a dermatologist’s office or at home by professional beauty services providers.

The treatment uses varying wavelengths of light to trigger the skin’s natural healing processes to repair skin. Several treatments are necessary to see results.

What is LED Facial treatment?

LED stands for light-emitting diode. These lights have been in use since the 1960s, but people have only recently begun to use them as a skin treatment.

NASA originally developed LED lights for plant growth experiments in space. However, since then, LEDs have shown promising results in wound healing and human tissue growth.

Different wavelengths of light in LED lights, including blue and red, penetrate the skin at different depths. This penetration may trigger biological processes that help the skin rejuvenate and heal.

Blue light

Experts believe that blue LED light reduces activity in the sebaceous glands, which are small oil-producing glands in the skin. This reduction in activity causes the glands to produce less oil, possibly improving acne symptoms.

Blue light may also kill a type of bacteria that contributes to acne by causing inflammation. Animal research indicates that blue light can improve the healing of third-degree burns.

Red light

Red LED light may improve scarring and signs of ageing, such as wrinkles. It may do this by acting on fibroblasts, which are skin cells that are responsible for collagen production.

Collagen is a protein in the skin and other connective tissues. It plays a role in skin healing. The body produces less collagen as a person ages, which causes the skin to show signs of ageing. Red light also reduces skin inflammation.

Uses and benefits

  • acne
  • dermatitis
  • dull skin
  • eczema
  • psoriasis
  • rosacea
  • scarring
  • signs of ageing, including wrinkles and age spots
  • sun damage
  • wound healing
  • other inflammatory skin conditions

Get To Know About Some Terms Indicated On Your Beauty Products

0

The beauty industry is enormous. Today, products are available for every skin type and concern. Consumers are spoiled for choice, and as if that weren’t confusing enough, there are terms on the labels of these skincare products that further complicate matters. Because you take such good care of your skin, it is critical that you understand all of these beauty product terms and their meanings. Interested In Beauty Products But Uncertain Of The Terms? What They Mean Is As Follows...

Interested In Beauty Products But Uncertain Of The Terms? What They Mean Is As Follows…

Non-comedogenic:

A comedone is an all-encompassing term that refers to a pore or hair follicle that becomes clogged with trapped dead skin cells and sebum, resulting in whiteheads and blackheads. When a product is labeled as non-comedogenic, it means that the formula will not clog the pores, preventing acne, pimples, and blackheads.

Hypoallergenic:

If your skin care product’s label states that it is hypoallergenic, this indicates that the formulation is less likely to cause an allergic reaction.

Dermatologist tested:

When a product is labeled as dermatologically tested, it means that it has been evaluated to determine whether it may cause irritation or a reaction. On human volunteers, these patches are covered and left on for 24 hours. After 48 hours, an expert examines the volunteer’s skin for signs of swelling or reaction.

 No additional fragrances:

Fragrances can be derived naturally or synthesized in a laboratory to mask the unpleasant odor of certain skincare ingredients. However, these synthetic fragrances or added perfumes are a leading cause of adverse skin reactions.

No synthetic colors or dyes:

While artificial dyes and colors serve no purpose other than to enhance the appearance of your skincare products, they can cause skin irritation, which is a risk you should avoid if you have sensitive skin.
