Are you using anti-aging skin care products but are not happy with the results? May be it’s because of the way you are using it.
The way you use anti-aging skincare products affects its results to a large extent.
TIPS BY DERMATOLOGISTS TO IMPROVE EFFECTIVENESS
- Begin with a single product. Using multiple anti-aging products concurrently may irritate your skin. Once your skin is irritated, the signs of aging become more visible.
- Conduct a patch test before applying the product on your face or hands. Even the products labeled as hypoallergenic can cause a skin reaction. To test a product, dab a small amount on the inside of your forearm. Repeat this procedure twice daily for four to five days. If your skin appears normal — without redness, itchiness, or other adverse reactions — you may apply it to your face and other skin.
- Put an end to the use of any product that stings, burns, or tingles. These sensations indicate that the product is irritating your skin. Irritated skin appears to be older. If you are using a product prescribed by your dermatologist, check to see if this is normal before discontinuing use. Certain prescription-strength products may cause a burning or stinging sensation.
- Adhere to directions. Certain products contain active ingredients that can cause complications if used in excess. You may develop clogged pores, blotchy skin, or skin that is excessively dry. Please read the instructions carefully and follow them strictly.
- Allow sufficient time for the product to work. While a moisturizer can instantly plump up fine lines, most products take at least six weeks to work. Occasionally, it may take up to three months. Allow time for the product to work.
- Continue to use if you want to see results. Individuals frequently discontinue using a product once they see results.
- Sunscreen your skin. Sun protection aids in the reduction of premature aging signs on the skin. Additionally, it enables your skin to repair and renew itself, lowering your risk of developing skin cancer.
- Apply a moisturizer. Moisturizers retain moisture in the skin. This additional moisture can assist in minimizing the appearance of fine lines and brightening the complexion.
- Ignore tanning. Tanning accelerates the aging process on your skin. Tanning can result in premature wrinkles, age spots, and other undesirable signs of aging.
