Two Home Remedies For Clear Glowing Skin!

0

You can have soft and glowing skin at home with just two natural masks made in your kitchen. They have no side effects and are excellent to use daily for immediate results. I have used them on my face thrice a week and it was the best decision for my skin by far!

Turmeric:

A spice very common in Asian households and almost is added to every Asian curry. It has been used as an herb for treating many conditions. It’s full of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory molecules and has remarkable anti-tan effects so effective for patients with psoriasis. Its remarkable properties bring out the natural glow of the skin, brighten up dull skin and improves microcirculation to glowing skin.

If you are tired of dark circles, this all-in-one herb is the perfect choice for your skin problems. It stimulates collagen synthesis. It has been clinically approved that turmeric brings out natural glow and removes scarring.

Two Home Remedies For Clear Glowing Skin!

How to use it:

It can be mixed with water/rose water and directly applied on skin. I personally use this way because of my combination skin and love the way it leaves my skin so soft and smooth

Also you can add milk for deep nourishing and moisture retaining effects and honey for its antibacterial properties.

Tomato

Yes! You read it right. Tomato, a vegetable so commonly available to everyone,  has some amazing anti-aging properties and contains Lycopene – an antioxidant which repairs damaged skin and enhances healing of the scars. It has some remarkable effects on reducing excessive face oil and must be used thrice a week for acne prone skin.

If you are tired of recurring acne, you must try it.

This remedy will make you skip  all anti-acne serums and creams, will naturally balance your skin pH and make your skin more healthy and clear.

How to use it?

Cut half one tomato and rub it on your face directly for 15 minutes. This will give your face a wonderful glow and freshness.

You can also make a mask. Scoop out pulp of tomato and add spoon of sugar. This helps exfoliate dead cells with sugar granules and lightens scars.

Since I included both of them in my skincare routine, I have seen mind blowing changes to my skin texture and it feels lovely to see my skin getting better with each use. Incredible results are one step ahead!

Beard Rollers: Can They Help With Facial Hair Growth?

Derma rollers have been used to address various skin concerns such as hyperpigmentation and scarring. A beard roller is a tool consisting of a cylinder-shaped head spiked with tiny needles attached to a handle that you roll across parts of your face. This results in very small punctures to the skin layer, which have been found to stimulate the skin’s natural formation of collagen. Use of this tool has evolved from being used exclusively as an in-office procedure with your dermatologist or aesthetician, to an at-home treatment available from retailers like Amazon.

beard roller

A more recent development in the realm of derma rolling is the beard roller. Some claim has the effect of stimulating beard growth and with a seemingly ever-growing trend among men of having lush, full beards—role modeled by professional athletes like Brian Wilson of the LA Dodgers, or actors like Brad Pitt or Chris Hemsworth—it’s no wonder why the tool has gotten a lot of attention lately. But does the science back up the claim? We tapped three experts for their thoughts.

MEET THE EXPERTS

  • Dr. Dennis Gross is a board-certified cosmetic and medical dermatologist at Dr. Dennis Gross Dermatology.
  • Dr. Ryan Turner is a board-certified dermatologist at Turner Dermatology.
  • Dr. Rachel Maiman is a board-certified dermatologist at Marmur Medical.

What Are Beard Rollers?

Dr. Dennis Gross, a Board Certified Dermatologist in New York explains that beard rollers are just another name for an at-home microneedling devices. It is essentially a hand-held device that has a roller with a lot of small needles on its surface—similar to the average derma roller, but with a larger head. According to Dr. Rachel Maiman, a board-certified dermatologist practicing at Marmur Medical in New York, “Beard rollers are simply a derma-planing device. They implement the same mechanics but are intended to stimulate hair growth.”

How Do They Work?

“When [a beard roller] is rolled over the skin, it creates tiny puncture wounds,” says Dr. Gross. “The objective of these puncture wounds is to signal an injury response in skin, which increases collagen production—key to healthy hair growth. It can be used to deliver active ingredients that plump, hydrate or stimulate collagen.”

Dr. Maiman adds that the idea of using beard rollers to stimulate hair growth is based on evidence that suggests microneedling promotes growth of hair on the scalp.

Can They Help With Beard Growth?

Dr. Ryan Turner, a board-certified dermatologist practicing in New York tells us that “There is some data suggesting the benefits of microneedling in scalp hair loss, but it has not been studied in beard growth.” He goes on to say that anecdotal reports suggest that derma rolling may positively effect beard growth.

The Surprising Benefits of Applying Body Lotion

0
Applying body lotion is one of the few inexpensive ways that people can pamper themselves. It seals moisture into the skin to prevent drying, while body care lotion softens rough elbows and heels, along with other dry areas of the skin.
A quality body skin lotion can work wonders on scaly, dehydrated skin that feels rough and looks unattractive, and hand body lotion works especially well on the hands and feet, but can be applied all over the body. As millions of users will agree, it provides many benefits to people who make time to use it on a regular basis.
People who work in harsh climates often apply it on a regular basis, perhaps even daily. Skin that is chapped or dried from wind, cold, or heat can be hard to treat with regular cosmetics. Some people have sensitive skin. No matter which type of climate they live in, their skin can become dry and irritated easily, sometimes even from indoor heat. Quality body lotion, applied after each shower or bath, can help to seal moisture deep in the skin to keep it hydrated and supple.
Even if your normal skin type is oily or normal, you might have rough areas on your body, like around the elbows or knees that could benefit from skin lotion applications after a bath or at bedtime. With regular use, it can ease rough skin and make it as smooth and silky as the rest of your body.
3. Smooth calluses.
If you are on your feet quite a bit you may have developed rough calluses that are painful and unsightly. A moist lotion can make these areas supple and help you to remove the dead skin easier than if you attempted it without lotion. If your calluses appear discolored, swollen, or have red streaks running from them, check with your doctor rather than trying to remove them yourself.

Best Razors for Women and Everybody to Get Silky-Smooth Skin

Raise your hand if you’ve spent basically your whole shaving life searching for the best razor for smoother, softer skin. Yup, I feel you. Because for those of us who are into the hairless life (which is by no means the ~requirement~; you do you), finding the right razor actually makes a big difference in shave quality. Like, a drugstore disposable razor basically feel like a dull knife against your skin versus the smooth, weighted, eco-friendly razors I’ve come to know and love. Not only does your razor determine the closeness of your shave, it also plays a big part in avoiding razor bumps, razor burn, and your risk of cutting yourself.

razors for women

And IDK about you, but I’m not out here trying to gamble with a razor and my skin. That’s why I found all the best razors out there right now that literally anyone can use, according to reviewers, dermatologists, and testing by Cosmopolitan beauty editors (ahem, that’s us). More info, ahead.

Meet the experts

  • Dendy Engelman, MD, is a board-certified dermatologist at Shafer Clinic Fifth Avenue in New York City.
  • Purvisha Patel, MD, is board-certified dermatologist and cosmetic surgeon, and the founder of Advanced Dermatology and Skin Cancer Associates in multiple locations across Tennessee and Mississippi. Dr. Patel is also the founder of Visha Skincare, a skincare line that specializes in brightening and fading UV damage.

How to choose the best razor

Look for a flexible razor head

“You want a razor that can pivot, especially if you’re shaving your body,” says dermatologist Purvisha Patel, MD. “You need something that can move with the different angles.” Think: your ankles, knees, and anywhere else where your razor needs to bend over curves and angles. Having a flexible razor will help prevent any nicks and cuts in the ~dicier~ spots (IYKYK).

Skin razor

Choose one with a moisturizing buffer

Dr. Patel suggests looking for razors that have a moisturizing pad next to the blades to make sure your skin is super-lubricated as you shave. But if you prefer safety razors that don’t have a pad, dermatologist Dendy Engelman, MD, says to make sure you’re skin is significantly wet beforehand (like, don’t just sprinkle on a little water and go to town), and lather up with a shaving cream for an extra smooth surface that will help prevent razor bumps, razor burn, and cuts.

How to Use the Best Blackhead Removal Tools Safely

Are blackhead removal tools safe? Whenever a breakout appears to be ripe for the picking, well, we pick (and pick and pick) until (a) it’s gone, or (b) we’re left with a bigger mess, or even worse, an acne scar. Which, awesome if it disappears, but if left to our own acne removal devices, it can easily end up being the latter—no fun.

As always, “any form of manipulation to the skin should be done by professionals who are trained to address potential complications,” says Dr. Maiman. It is also important to note that those with dark melanin-rich skin should use particular caution, as the skin is more prone to hyperpigmentation, she explains.

How-to-use-blackhead-remover

There is some good news, though: Dr. Mona Gohara, board-certified dermatologist and associate clinical professor at Yale, explains that if done correctly and with caution, blackhead removal tools can be a very effective way to clear some of those pesky, stubborn blackheads that don’t seem to go away (i.e., the dark, more obvious ones that have been on your face for days, weeks, or even months). Beforehand, “ensure that you consult your dermatologist to confirm that this is the right approach for you,” says Gohara.

So, if you choose to use them—after acknowledging the risks and with caution—there are a few important tips you should keep in mind to make sure you’re using ’em correctly and as safely as possible:

  • Clean hands, skin, and a properly sanitized tool are a must. Remember to clean tools and devices before and after each use. (For stainless steel tools, rubbing alcohol will do the trick.)
  • Steam your face beforehand. Dr. Maiman suggests gently steaming the skin to loosen debris for a better extraction and less trauma. This can be done with a warm, damp towel, a warm shower beforehand, or if you really wanna get ~fancy~, a facial steamer.

How to safely remove blackheads

  • Go light on the pressure. Less pressure means less trauma; less trauma means less damage to your skin.
  • If it’s not budging, STOP! And above all, if the blackhead is not easily releasing, that’s your sign to call it a day and leave it up to the pros. If you continue extraction at this point, you can easily damage your skin or cause scarring.

All About Shaving Your Armpits

0

Choosing to shave your underarms is really a personal decision. In most cases, there aren’t any medical benefits to shaving, but some people just prefer the smooth hair-free look or feel.

Disposable razors are the most popular and inexpensive way the majority of people shave, but there are other methods like:

  • waxing
  • electric razors
  • depilatories

Again, it’s a personal preference depending on your likes and budget. Here are some tips to safely shave underarm hair to prevent some of the most common problems with shaving like:

  • cuts
  • razor burns
  • skin irritation

How to shave your armpits

Just like brushing your teeth or flossing, shaving is a process. For best results, it’s important to know the right and wrong way to shave. Your technique and tools (razor) are key.

  1. Exfoliate your skin with a loofah or body scrubber to clean your armpits before shaving for a closer and cleaner shave. Sweat or deodorant can clog blades or cause infections from bacteria if you cut yourself shaving.
  2. Wet your skin before you start doing this because your underarm hair is sensitive, and moisture helps open pores and soften your skin. Try shaving in the shower. This will help soften your skin to avoid cuts or nicks.
  3. Pull your skin taut and shave using short varying strokes (upward, downward, sideways) to get the smoothest shave. Don’t go over the same area too many times to avoid irritating your skin or getting nicked. Go slowly to get the cleanest shave.
  4. Rinse the blade after each pass to clear it of shaving gel and hair. Don’t use your fingers to clear the blades.
  5. Dry the area and use a moisturizer like aloe vera after you shave to soothe your skin and avoid irritation.
  6. Don’t put deodorant on right away because it might burn or irritate your skin
  7. Clean and dry the blade after every use and store it in a dry location (not in the shower). Moisture can ruin blades and lead to infections if you cut yourself shaving.

How To Get Cerumen or Earwax Out Of Your Ear

0

Earwax, also called cerumen, serves an essential function in the body. It helps remove dead skin cells, dirt, hair, and other debris from the ear canal.

Earwax lowers the risk of infection and prevents the ear canal from feeling uncomfortable and itchy. It also helps reduce the irritation that water causes when it enters the ear canal.

However, it is possible for the body to overproduce earwax, allowing it to build up and block the ear canal.

A blockage can occur if a person cleans their ears using a cotton swab, which can push the cerumen further into the ear canal. This may also happen if a person is using a hearing aid.

The medical term for an earwax blockage is a “cerumen impaction.” People can usually treat this condition at home using simple household products.

Treatments and home remedies

There are several ways to deal with an earwax blockage at home, including:

Hydrogen peroxide

A common method for earwax removal is to add a few drops of hydrogen peroxide to a damp cotton ball and apply it to the affected ear. Hydrogen peroxide is a common antiseptic. A person can also use a clean eyedropper to drip the solution into the ear canal.

It is essential to tilt the head so that the affected ear is pointing upward for several minutes. This will allow the fluid to drip down into the ear canal to reach the blockage.

After a few minutes, tilting the head the other way will allow the fluid and earwax to drain until the ear canal is clear.

Researchers noted that a person should apply hydrogen peroxide to the earwax about 30 minutes prior to ear irrigation. The solution can loosen up the earwax to make removal with water irrigation easier.

A person should use some caution when using pure solutions of hydrogen peroxide or drops made with the solution. At low concentrations typically found in readily available household products, hydrogen peroxide can cause skin irritation. At concentrations of 10% or higher, it can cause burns on the skin.
