Turmeric Face Masks for Acne Scars & Dark Spots

0

It comes as no surprise that turmeric is not just a superfood for your body. It also acts as a super ingredient for your skin. This all natural ingredient can help with a multitude of skin conditions from treating acne, to helping fade scars, and even tighten the skin. Let’s look a little more closely at the skin  benefits of turmeric.

Fights Breakouts: Those who suffer from acne as well as the occasionally breakout, can count on turmeric powder. Turmeric contains antibacterial and antimicrobial properties which fight off acne breakouts, and also prevent them. Treat acne once and for all with turmeric!

Reduces Swelling: Because it contains anti-inflammatory properties, turmeric can also help with swelling. This includes pustules and cystic acne. Mask a simple turmeric mask by combining water and turmeric powder and apply directly to the affected area. Be sure to leave on for 15 minutes for best results.

Fades Scars & Spots: Acne scars, dark spots, age spots, and sun spots can all be treated with a little patience and some turmeric powder. Use any one of the recipes below and apply directly to the scar or spot on your skin. Make sure that the skin is clear of makeup and cleansed before application. Leave on for 10 to 15 minutes and rinse off. Pat dry, and repeat several times a week for at least one or two months. Consistency is key when trying to get rid of scars and spots!

Reduces Wrinkles: Applying a turmeric mask two or three times a week for 30 minutes can not only keep wrinkles and fine lines at bay, but can also get rid of them. Turmeric contains properties which help to tighten and brighten the skin.

Exfoliates: Although it doesn’t have any granules, turmeric powder also gently exfoliates the skin. This will leave skin softer, younger looking, and brighter. Exfoliating is an important part of your skin care regimen, because it gets rid of dead skin cells to reveal newer, softer skin. Exfoliate once a week if you have dry or sensitive skin, and twice a week for oily and acne prone skin.

Hydrates: Surprisingly, turmeric can also hydrate the skin by getting rid of the old top layer of dead skin cells and revitalizing the skin. It also helps protect the skin from further damage.

DIY Homemade Anti-Aging Daily Cleanser

0

My very dry skin cleared up (with the help of coconut oil), and everything started looking smoother and, well, glow. Instead of soap, I started using honey face wash at night and this homemade anti-aging daily cleanser in the morning to exfoliate and plump the skin—the one area where plumping is a good thing!

How to Naturally Nourish Dry Skin

This homemade cleanser is chock full of natural ingredients to soothe skin of all types. Almonds and powdered rice polish skin while dry whole milk plumps fine lines. All in all, it will leave your skin feeling nourished, hydrated, and squeaky clean.

Here’s how it works:

Ground almond benefits

Finely ground almonds gently exfoliate, which is the key to getting rid of dead skin cells and blocked pores. Almonds are also full of natural oils that provide vitamins A and E to your skin .

Vitamin E is one of the most commonly referenced nutrients for skin health, and with good reason. Not only does vitamin E fight free radicals, but it helps to improve the skin barrier and protects against UV photodamage . You’ll also combat wrinkles and premature aging with vitamin E, thanks to all those antioxidant scavengers .

Milk powder benefits

Lipids, the naturally occurring fats found in milk, replenish lost moisture, keeping skin hydrated. Thanks to its high lipid content, milk is also rich in fat-soluble vitamins (specifically A, D, E, and K) and essential fatty acids that help to nourish and heal the skin . Milk is a natural source of lactic acid, which provides a perfect source of gentle, yet effective exfoliation.

Ground rice benefits

You may have already heard about the benefits of rice water for skin, but I’m personally convinced that brown rice flour is one of the best-kept beauty secrets around. Asian women have used ground rice powder as an anti-aging daily cleanser for ages to smooth complexions, lighten skin discolorations, and reduce wrinkles. Read More………………

How to Prevent Split Ends

Learn how to nourish and prevent split ends with an easy hair treatment or mask that will rejuvenate damaged, dull hair!

Yikes! Split ends are annoying and considered a sign of unhealthy hair. Due to extreme weather conditions (hot or cold, humid or dry), hair products laden with chemicals, typical hair styling regimens that include blow dryers, straighteners or curling irons, and even our diets, the day-to-day living is what leaves the ends of hair looking like an old, frayed rope. And while split ends can’t prevent hair from growing, they can travel further up the hair strand and encourage more damage, dullness and frizzing. The only way to really get rid of split ends is by trimming them off. Luckily, there are ways to prevent split ends in the first place and ways to remedy them once the ends start shredding.

How to Prevent Split Ends At Home

Of course dealing with a problem from its root is the best course of action, especially when dealing with hair, so consider these things when it comes to preventing split ends:

Avoid commercially made products containing chemicals and toxic ingredients that dry and damage hair, and focus on natural, non-toxic products and DIY hair recipes instead.

  • Try to minimize use of straighteners, curling irons, and other heated hair tools
  • Let your hair air dry and avoid towel drying and blow dryers
  • Use warm water instead of hot water to wash your hair
  • Drink plenty of H2O
  • Always be delicate with your hair when brushing, washing, styling, etc.

Once a week treat your hair to an extra boost of love with an ultra-nourishing hair mask containing ingredients that are known to revitalize, strengthen and improve overall health of hair

Jojoba Geranium Split End Rejuvenator:

Combine both oils in a small bowl (or directly in your hands) and stir until well blended. Massage onto hair and scalp focusing on the ends and allow to soak for 20-30 minutes. Then rinse and shampoo as usual.

Eggy Avocado Hair Mask:

  • The pulp in tomatoes is naturally antibacterial and antifungal, making is perfect for those with oily and acne prone skin.
  • Tomatoes contain antioxidant and bleaching properties, which can help fade scars, dark spots, age spots, and sun spots. Additionally, they can also protect the skin from sun damage.
  • Helps the balance the skin’s pH levels, which can naturally balance oil production.

5 sure shot remedies to get rid of facial hair

Embarrassed by those facial hair? Well, we can totally empathise! Unlike hair on the other body parts, facial hair are quite visible, and can make or break your look. If you find it tedious to visit a salon every few weeks, here are some simple and effective home remedies to remove your facial hair naturally.

Oatmeal and Banana

This method is quite handy. Blend two tablespoons of oatmeal with a ripe banana, and apply this paste on the affected areas. Massage it for 15 minutes, and wash it off with cool water.

Oatmeal makes a great, hydrating scrub and is loaded with antioxidants that helps to remove redness from your skin. Apart from removing your facial hair, this paste will also give you a glowing skin.

Lemon and Honey

This is another method to replace waxing. Start with mixing two tablespoons of sugar and lemon juice, and one tablespoon of honey. Heat the mixture for about three minutes and add water to make the mixture thinner, if required.
Once the paste cools down, apply cornstarch on the affected areas and spread the paste in the direction of hair growth. Next, use a waxing strip or a cotton cloth, and pull the hair out in the opposite direction of growth.

Honey helps in moisturizing the skin, and hence this method is highly recommended if you have dry skin.

Potato and Lentil

Mix a tablespoon of honey, lemon juice each with five tablespoons of potato juice. Meanwhile, grind the lentils (soaked overnight) to a smooth paste. Add all the ingredients and apply the mixture for about 20 minutes on the affected area. Wash it off once it is completely dry.
This paste makes a thin crust that helps in hair removal. Plus, potato helps in bleaching the hair, making them less visible. Read More…………….

Makeup for Better Skin

Blush, foundation, or lip balm. Just about every cosmetic now promises to leave your skin better than before. Which ones are worth slipping into your makeup kit?

Read the Label

Many beauty ingredients do have a good track record, but you need to get enough of something to make a difference. If a key ingredient is listed first, second, or third, your makeup likely contains a decent amount.

Here are a few beauty ingredients worth a try, from those with a long track record to promising newcomers.

Vitamin C

You down a glass of orange juice every morning for the vitamin C. In cosmetics, it may help nourish your skin’s collagen, an under layer that keeps skin plump so that sagging and wrinkles are less noticeable.

Vitamin C may also lighten dark spots and protect against sun damage.

Antioxidants like vitamin C stop some of the harmful changes that sunlight can trigger deep in your skin. “It helps to block the damage from free radicals that are produced by UV light that passes through the makeup or SPF,” says David H. McDaniel, MD, director of the McDaniel Institute of Anti-Aging Research in Virginia.

Vitamin C is perishable, so buy only enough cream for a month. Or look for new, stabilized formulas that promise to stay potent longer.

In general, light and air weaken vitamin C. “You may gain more benefits if it’s in an air-tight, opaque packaging.” says Jeanne San Diego, a freelance makeup artist in southern California.

Copper Peptides

Copper peptides stimulate your skin to make more collagen and elastin, leading to firmer, tighter skin. Some cosmetics with this ingredient have been touted as a “facelift in a bottle,” but this is unrealistic. “There’s nothing that’s going to give you a lot of lifting,” says dermatologist Patricia K. Farris, MD, of the Tulane University School of Medicine.

You may still see good, but less dramatic, results from makeup with copper peptides. Read more

Chemical Peels and Your Skin

Chemical peels can improve the skin‘s appearance. In this treatment, a chemical solution is applied to the skin, which makes it “blister” and eventually peel off. The new skin is usually smoother and less wrinkled than the old skin.Chemical peels can be done on the face, neck, or hands. They can be used to:

  • Reduce fine lines under the eyes and around the mouth
  • Treat wrinkles caused by sun damage and aging
  • Improve the appearance of mild scars
  • Treat certain types of acne
  • Reduce age spots, freckles, and dark patches (melasma) due to pregnancy or taking birth control pills
  • Improve the look and feel of skin

Areas of sun damage may improve after chemical peeling.

After a chemical peel, skin is temporarily more sensitive to the sun, so wear sunscreen every day. It should say “broad-spectrum” on the label, meaning it protects against the sun’s UVA and UVB rays. Also, it should be a physical sunscreen and be above SPF 30. Limit your time in the sun, especially between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., and wear a wide-brimmed hat.

Who Is a Good Candidate For a Chemical Peel?

Generally, fair-skinned and light-haired patients are better candidates for chemical peels. If you have darker skin, you may also have good results, depending upon the type of problem being treated. But you also may be more likely to have an uneven skin tone after the procedure.

Skin sags, bulges, and more severe wrinkles do not respond well to chemical peels. They may need other kinds of cosmetic surgical procedures, such as laser resurfacing, a facelift, brow lift, eyelid lift, or soft tissue filler (collagen or fat). A dermatologic surgeon can help determine the most appropriate type of treatment for you. Read more

Foods to Help Keep Your Skin Healthy

Your skin is the first thing people see when they look at you. Strangely enough, it’s considered the largest organ in the human body — right up there with the intestines, lungs, and liver. It serves many purposes, including acting as our first defense against germs and the environment, and converting sunlight to vitamin D. The layer of fat under the skin’s surface helps ensure that the important fluids inside our bodies stay inside our bodies.

The ironic thing about skin is that when people are young, their biggest concern about their skin may be how to get a tan. But as we get older, our top skin priority becomes preventing wrinkles — and the No. 1 way to do this, of course, is NOT to tan.

(Since I am the kind of person who doesn’t tan but only turns different shades of pink, I figured out at a young age that sun worshipping just wasn’t in my genetic code. My younger sister did tan as a teen and young adult. And I have to say, I do seem to have fewer wrinkles.)

So when does it become crucial to start taking care of your skin? It’s probably earlier than you think. Mark G. Rubin, MD, assistant clinical professor of dermatology of the University of San Diego, believes that not smoking and avoiding the sun starting in your teens will pay off later.

“Since prevention plays a big role in skin aging, the sooner you start the better,” he says. “By the time you see changes you don’t like in your skin, a lot of damage has already been done.”

If you think about it, what we’re basically trying to do is delay the normal aging of skin, which ages as all organs do. The best way to slow the aging of many things in the human body, on a cellular level, is to keep body cells from oxidizing. And the best way to keep your body from needlessly oxidizing, experts say, is to avoid smoking and to eat a diet rich in antioxidants (more on this below). Read more
