Exactly How to Get Glass Skin in 5 Easy Steps

0

Move over baby skin, there’s a new #skingoal in town for Glass Skin. We’re talking about a complexion so smooth, so translucent, so clear that it looks like, well, a pane of glass. It’s called—you guessed it—glass skin and its calling card is a super smooth, ultra-glossy, reflective-like finish. How to make it happen in real life? You’ll need to continually (but gently) disintegrate dull, dead skin cells and keep skin hydrated to the max. Here’s how:

Step 1: Double Cleanse

You won’t achieve glass skin by haphazardly swiping a cleansing cloth over your face at the end of the day. For a truly poreless complexion, you’ve got to dissolve every trace of makeup, oil, sweat, dirt, and pollutants before calling it a night. Most regular cleansers won’t cut it either, especially if you’re dealing with long-wearing formulas or heavy-duty sunscreen.

To thoroughly cleanse without stripping, massage an oil-based cleanser like Yuri Pibu [which translates as “glass skin” in English] Grante Cleansing Oil on dry skin first. Rinse with lukewarm water (it breaks down residue better than cold), then do your second cleanse with a hydrating formula like Glow Recipe Blueberry Bounce Gentle Cleanser. To keep flakes at bay and pores clear, swap in an exfoliating cleanser like Dr. G Brightening Peeling Gel a few nights a week. When you’re done, let your face air dry—every drop of water on it means more moisture for your skin.

Step 2: Do the 7 Skin Method

The secret to getting glass skin at home is a hydrating toner—and lots of it. You’ll want to apply multiple layers—seven to be exact—to get a lit-from-within glow. It may seem fussy, but doesn’t actually take that long and ends up feeling more like a treatment than a chore—promise!

The how-to: While skin is still damp, use your fingers to press on a dime-sized amount of toner. We like Whamisa Organic Flowers Deep Rich Essence Toner; it’s packed with aloe vera and oat kernel extract, which help give skin that bouncy feel. Let it sit for a few seconds before repeating six more times. What you’ll see is noticeably plumped up skin—like your face just drank a tall glass of water. Really can’t be bothered with extra steps? Cheat hydration by applying a moisturizing sheet mask like this one from Whamisa at least twice a week.

Step 3: Apply an Essence

It’s no surprise that the glass skin routine requires a hydrating essence. After all, it’s the signature move of every Korean woman’s beauty ritual. Look for a glycerin and squalane-laced formula like Yuri Pibu Artichoke Power Essence: The former ingredient pulls water from the atmosphere into your skin, while the latter helps strengthen barrier function so it looks more even over time. Pat—don’t rub—it in to prevent tugging, which can stretch out the skin and cause wrinkles.

Step 4: Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize

By now you know that glass skin can’t happen without major moisture. You may have a bounty of creams on your vanity, but what you need is something containing serious skin-plumping and moisture-trapping oils like the ones in Make P:rem Tension Cream. They lock in hydration, leaving normal, dry—even oily—skin smoother, softer, and slightly shiny in a really good way. Another good idea if you’re dry: A few spritzes of face mist on top for an instant boost of hydration. Our go-to: Whamisa Hydrating Double Layer Mist.

HOMEMADE ANTI-FRIZZ SERUM FOR SOFT, SHINY HAIR

Frizzy hair often happens when the cuticle layer of hair is raised, making hair appear dry and frizzy instead of nourished and smooth.  Many things can aggravate frizz.

  • humid weather (pretty much every single day of a midwestern summer)
  • dry hair
  • washing hair too often

I’ve tried a lot of different things to help control frizz.  From lots of research and experimenting over the years, here’s what I’ve found works

  1. only wash your hair every 2-3 days (this keeps hair from drying out)  Use my homemade dry shampoo (recipe here) inbetween washing to keep hair looking fresh and clean.  There are recipes versions for blondes, brunettes, and redheads, so it’s easy to find the dry shampoo that’s perfect for you.
  2. deep condition hair to lock in the moisture
  3. use my homemade anti-frizz serum (recipe below) – It restores shine and texture, making hair soft and silky.
  4. don’t touch your hair – The more your touch your hair, the more the hair cuticle is likely to get roughed up, and the frizzier your hair will get.

How to make anti-frizz serum for soft, silky hair

1:  add 1 tablespoon avocado oil to a 4 ounce spray bottle

tip: be sure to use a spray bottle that’s safe to use with essential oils.  Here are a few of my favorite options: glass, stainless steel, or certain types of plastic (PET #1 or HDPE #2)

tip: use a funnel to make it easier to pour the oil into the bottle without making a mess

2:  add 1 tablespoon castor oil
3:  add 1/4 cup of flaxseed oil
4:  add the following essential oils (22 drops total)
  • 10 drops cedarwood essential oil
  • 6 drops rosemary essential oil
  • 6 drop peppermint essential oil

Note:  This is a 1.3% essential oil dilution.  That is,  there are only 22 drops of essential oil in 18 teaspoons of carrier oil. Read More……………………

Face Toners: Too many of us might have decided to kick toner out of our beauty routines when we left our teens behind. After all, what does toner do for the face aside from drying up pimples? As it turns out, that old-fashioned view of toner can be harming your complexion. Toner can actually be the missing ingredient in your skincare regimen.

Toner’s Many Benefits

Most toners are liquid-based. They provide deeper cleaning and makeup removal than cleansing alone provides. In addition, astringent toner ingredients like witch hazel or alcohol help make pores look smaller by providing a tissue-tightening effect and cleaning out surrounding dirt and old skin cells.

Face Toners: Of course, deep cleansing and pore-tightening have been the principal benefits of toners for decades. But the new generation of toners can deliver additional benefits.

Toners vs. Astringents: What’s the Difference?

All astringents are toners, but not all toners are astringents. Still confused? That’s fair, given the glut of products on the market. What’s important to remember is that astringents are a type of face toner with the highest amount of alcohol.

The Right Toner for the Right Skin Type

Gone are the days when all toners were alcohol-packed astringents that stripped skin of its protective oils. These days, even the types blended for acne-prone complexions temper their oil-controlling ingredients with other beneficial compounds.

5 Best Vitamins For Acne Treatment

Acne Treatment: Are you suffering from acne? Or maybe you’d like to avoid getting it? Well, here’s some good news: there are vitamins for acne that can help reduce it.

What Are the Best Vitamins for Acne?

1. Vitamin A

Vitamin A is one of the best vitamins for acne. For starters, this vitamin has antioxidant properties which help reduce inflammation on the skin and prevent free radicals from causing cell damage.

It also promotes the growth of skin cells and protects the skin from harmful UV rays. Vitamin A also helps with skin aging by increasing collagen production and glycosaminoglycan, a water-retaining polysaccharide.

2. Zinc

Using zinc for acne treatment is also recommended. This low-cost vitamin reduces inflammation, redness, and scarring due to its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Zinc also has a bacteriostatic property which prevents the production of bacteria.

3. Vitamin D

Vitamin D also prevents bacteria-triggered irritation in skin cells and helps reduce skin inflammation and the production of sebum. For acne management, Vitamin D is best consumed orally through sources of Vitamin D such as vitamin D2 and D3 supplements and fortified foods.

What Are Sunspots? | Causes, Treatment and Other FAQs

Treatment : Sunspots are flat brown spots that occur on areas of the skin that are always exposed to the sun. They are harmless and are sometimes called liver spots. Sunspots today don’t pose any health risks and are non-cancerous, but they don’t typically fade away on their own. They also don’t require any therapies unless you want to remove them.

How Are Sunspots Different from Freckles?

Treatment : The primary difference between sunspots and freckles is that they look larger than freckles and usually appear when you’re in your mid-thirties. Sunspots commonly appear because of repeated sun exposure. They are pigmented cells that clump together, forming dense areas of pigment.

Sunspots may fade a little if there’s a reduction of sun exposure, but they can be persistent and stubborn in comparison to freckles. You might need cosmetic therapies if you want to completely get rid of them faster.

Freckles

One main difference between freckles and sunspots is that freckles are hereditary. So, whether you expose yourself too much to the sun or not, you’ll eventually have freckles if it runs in your blood. Unlike sunspots that result from too much sun exposure, freckles work as skin barriers against the sun.

What Causes Sunspots?

Aside from repetitive sun exposure, sunspots also appear because of UV rays from tanning beds. UV rays from the sun and tanning beds increase melanin production which, in turn, creates pigmented patches on the skin. People with fair skin are more prone to sunspots than those with a darker skin tone
