Face Defuzzers: Getting rid of my facial hair has never ranked super high on my priorities list. It’s not that I like the peach fuzz that sits above my lips and along my cheekbones, or that I’m thrilled when it peeks through my foundation, but I haven’t exactly hated it enough to do something about it (FWIW, I’m the World’s Laziest human so I usually stay away from beauty treatments that require, like, any effort). But then I found myself in isolation with both a face razor and way too much time on my hands.

Even as a face-shaving new, I knew my regular-ass razor wasn’t cut out for my experiment—an area as sensitive as your face requires a super delicate blade, which is why I was immediately drawn to the Revlon Face Defuzzer. You get two face razors in the $5 pack (an actual steal), and the blades are just sharp enough to trim every inch of your peach fuzz (or sideburns, or edges) without taking a layer of your skin with it.

Holding the razor at a 45 degree angle, I gently shaved my hair in short, downward strokes, stopping every so often to wipe the blade clean. I was honestly surprised by how easy it was—unlike when shaving my legs (which, more often than not, leaves me with a few nicks and cuts), my peach fuzz went quickly and quietly. The blade felt nice and sharp, too, which really helped trim those harder-to-reach angles like my jawline and neck.

The whole process took me 15 minutes max, and immediately, I could feel my skin was softer and smoother. I rinsed, massaged on a creamy moisturizer, and then put my face through the test by slathering on a thick layer of foundation.

CloudCath, the maker of a remote monitoring platform for catheter-based treatments, has closed a $12 million Series A financing round. Capital Integral headlined the raise, which also saw investments from FundRx, The Capital Partnership, Coconut Tree Investments, Stanford University’s StartX Fund and other unnamed strategic and individual investors.

WHAT THEY DO

CloudCath’s initial product is a connected device and monitoring software designed for end stage renal disease patients receiving peritoneal dialysis in their homes. Placed around the bloodline tubes of a dialysis system by the patient, the device analyzes drainage fluid and, using proprietary algorithms, detects deviations in fluid property.

The device transmits notifications of such complications to the patient’s provider using a built-in LTE module. These alerts are surfaced on a patient management portal employed by their provider.

“End-stage renal disease, one of the costliest chronic diseases in the U.S., is devastating to patients,” Aly ElBadry, CEO and cofounder of CloudCath, said in a statement. “The CloudCath technology enables patients and caregivers to easily monitor fluid parameters for early signs of complications, including infection, in real time, allowing dialysis providers to intervene much earlier than the existing standard of care.”

WHAT IT’S FOR
