The year 2021 provided us with ample opportunity to reconsider our options and consider what we put inside and on our bodies. People see things differently during this pandemic. They have a more positive attitude toward skincare and taking care of themselves. They examine the ingredients, conduct research on various products, and determine the best course of action.
The skincare industry is constantly evolving, and new trends emerge daily. Before the pandemic, people were more concerned with simply applying products to their skin. However, consumers are now attempting to understand the ingredient/product before utilizing it. There is a lot to do because we are all constantly confined to our homes and tending to our own needs, because why not?
Social media has a powerful influence on people, and the skincare industry has adapted to this change. There is an increase in the number of skincare influencers teaching people about skincare fundamentals and how to care for it properly.
Skincare is popular right now due to the pandemic, which has caused people to abandon their makeup and embrace their natural skin. There was a shift in emphasis; rather than concealing skin issues with makeup, people desired to resolve them through skincare.
Physical exfoliators are giving way to chemical exfoliators, squeaky clean face washes are giving way to hydrating facial cleansers, sunscreen on the beach is giving way to sunscreen reapplication every two hours, and DIY spot treatment is giving way to acne patches. This shift is occurring as people have started to love themselves and be more gentle with their skin.
