Vitamin D is a nutrient your body needs for building and maintaining healthy bones. Furthermore, it regulates many other cellular functions in your body, like anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and neuroprotective properties that support immune health, muscle function, and brain cell activity. A deficiency in Vitamin D is a prevalent condition; a daily dose of sunlight exposure is necessary to fight it.
The problem is that human skin’s production of vitamin D depends on many factors, including the time of day, season, latitude, and skin pigmentation. To solve this problem, the app D Minder was developed, as it calculates the best time to get sun exposure according to your location and sends you an alert when it’s time to go outside.
Another feature is that when you track your time, the app will actually let you know when you need to get out of the sun to avoid sunburn and the total IU (International Units) of Vitamin D you produce.
It can also be connected to the Health app from your mobile by including basic information (like your height, weight, and skin type). With those pieces of information, any time you are outside during the prescribed hours (and parts of the year), you can have it compute the amount of D you are getting in a stopwatch interface. It will also track how long you can stay out and warn you when the time is up.
In conclusion, wherever you go in the world, the app D Minder tracks the sun and tells you when you can get Vitamin D, ensuring you have sufficient Vitamin D to stay healthy.
