HOW TO DEAL WITH PIGMENTATION SPOTS ON YOUR BODY

Just like acne, pigmentation is a common skin problem that most people face at some or the other point in their life. Darkening of certain spots on the skin can be referred to as pigmentation.

While most pigmentation spots fade away on their own, the process is slow. Everyone wants clear, even and glowing skin, right? So, if you have pigmentation spots on your body, stop hiding them under long skirts and full-sleeved tops, and follow these tips instead.

Wear sunscreen

Before we tell you how to correct it, we will first tell you how to prevent it. Still limiting the application of sunscreen to your face? That’s the biggest mistake you’re making. Don’t neglect your hands, feet, lips, ears, neck and all other exposed parts of the body while applying sunscreen. Sun damage is one of the major causes of pigmentation and hence it’s necessary to apply sunscreen all year long. Wear a sunscreen with a minimum SPF value of 30.

Apply aloe vera gel

Aloe vera gel has soothing, calming and healing properties that accelerate the skin renewal process and helps fade skin discolouration and spots. Apply fresh aloe vera gel all over the affected area and allow your skin to absorb it completely. You can also apply the Lakme 9 To 5 Naturale Aloe Aqua Gel on your face, hands and legs before going to bed at night for best results.

AN EASY WAY TO GET RID OF BLACKHEADS USING HYDROGEN PEROXIDE

They form when a pore is clogged with dead skin cells and excess oil from your sebaceous glands *gross*. It may be tempting to pinch or squeeze the blackhead out, but don’t do this as it can cause unnecessary scarring and other forms of permanent damage to your skin. But, you don’t need to worry anymore because we have a neat trick up our sleeves that will help you get rid of blackheads for good.

Step 01: Start by washing your face with a mild cleanser and pat dry

Step 02: Gently exfoliate the areas of your skin that have blackheads. You can use the St. Ives Fresh Skin Apricot Scrub. This scrub deep cleanses the skin and makes your skin soft, smooth and supple. Rinse thoroughly

Step 03: Next, moisten a cotton ball with a little hydrogen peroxide and gently dab it on your blackheads. Keep safe distance from your eyebrows and hairline as you will risk bleaching your hair. Hydrogen peroxide will help dissolve the blackheads and eliminate them from your skin

Step 04: Leave it on for 30-45 minutes and wash it off with water.

Step 05: Finally, remember to moisturise your skin with jojoba, avocado or olive oil while it’s still damp. This will act as an emollient that smoothens and protects your skin by retaining moisture.

8 Natural Remedies for Puffy Eyes and Dark Circles

0

If the eyes are the windows of the soul, wouldn’t it be great if those windows had nice curtains? But alas, for a host of reasons, our eyes and their immediate surroundings can be quick to show signs of stress and exhaustion. And aside from wanting one’s peepers to look nice and shine brightly, tired puffy eyes simply just don’t feel great.

There are all kinds of very expensive over-the-counter beauty treatments for eyes, but in my experience, few of them are worth it. (Though I did find one that is a bit miraculous, more on that below.) So with all of this in mind, consider these approaches as a first line of defense against puffy and/or dark, tired eyes. Some are novel, some have been used for generations – some will work for some, others for will work others. Take them for a spin and see what happens.

1. Cold Compress

Cold things reduce swelling which can be salvation for puffy eyes. Plus, a cold compress on the eyes is very rejuvenating and is almost as good as coffee for waking you up. Use ice wrapped in a soft cloth, a chilled eye mask, a package of frozen vegetables or even a pair of chilled spoons.

2. Chamomile Tea

This natural remedy from the granny playbook is a classic one. Has it been proven by science? Not exactly, but chamomile is reported to have anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties, and subjecting your eyes to a chilled tea bag gives the benefit of a cold compress as well. I like to brew a cup of tea, remove the bag, chill it, and let it rest on my eyes – if nothing else, it is very refreshing and gives a nice second use to old teabags. (Keep in mind that some people have allergic reactions to chamomile.

These home-made face washes will help you do just that.

Kaolin clay face wash

FACE WASHES: The absorbent properties of this light clay (it is very similar to multani mitti) will remove the oils and dirt from your face. A few drops of rosewater added to it will help maintain the skin’s pH balance.

Mix 1 tbsp. of kaolin clay and 2 tsp. of rosewater. You can even add 2-3 drops of lavender essential oil for a soothing effect. Splash your face with warm water to open the pores. Massage the clay onto your face and rinse after 5 minutes.

Do this at the end of a long, humid day outdoors.

HOW TO LIGHTEN YOUR SKIN TONE

HOW TO LIGHTEN: You might take utmost care of your skin but you have to agree that the pollution, stress and sun exposure can easily take your original complexion away from you. This is when your skin begins to look lackluster and lifeless. Here are ways in which you can lighten your skin tone…

Stay hydrated

SKIN TONE: If there’s one skin care promise you need to make to yourself, it is to keep your body hydrated. Drinking at least 3 liters of water every day will ensure that all the toxins from the body are flushed out and your cells are hydrated. This will reflect in the form of a better complexion, supple and hydrated skin!

Workout regularly

If you truly want your skin to get lighter, make sure you exercise. When you work out, the tiny arteries in your skin open up thereby allowing more blood to reach the skin’s surface—something that helps to deliver nutrients to your skin that can repair the damage done  by environmental pollutants.

Set up a skin care regime

If you’ve been worried about your skin losing its original complexion, using the right skin care products could be a wise move.
