Need Skincare Self-Care? Try This Moisturizing Greek Yogurt Face Mask

I know the thought of a greek yogurt face mask might sound messy, maybe even gross if you’re not a big dairy fan, but hear me out. It seems like the older I get the dryer my skin feels—and looks! And if you’re stuck at home, now is the perfect time for a bit of skincare self-care. Applying a yogurt face mask once or twice a week can do everything from restore much-needed moisture to lessen the appearance of age spots. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

Benefits of Greek Yogurt for Skin

Given its extraordinary benefits for your body, you can only anticipate the wonders it can do for your face, too. Here are some of the ways yogurt can give you that fresh-from-the-spa glow:

Fights Acne

Fun fact: Greek yogurt has impressive acne-fighting abilities. That’s because it contains lactic acid, which is a type of alpha hydroxy acid (which you can find in many of your store-bought cleansers, spot treatments and acne products). It’s also loaded with probiotics which may help restore your skin’s bacterial balance and keep acne-causing germs from getting out of hand.

Greek Yogurt Face Mask Recipe

My go-to face mask recipe calls for just two ingredients: Greek yogurt and honey. But, different skin types often require different ingredients. Here are a few things you can add to your mask to target your skin’s specific issues.

Optional add ins:

  • Dry skin? Mash and add 1/2 of an avocado or 1 tablespoon facial oil or 1 tablespoon of honey
  • Oily skin? Add 1/2 teaspoon turmeric and 1 teaspoon green clay
  • Acne prone? Smash 1/2 banana until smooth and add 1 teaspoon of turmeric or 1 drop lavender or tea tree essential oil

SKINCARE CALENDAR:  So you have your daily skincare routine in place but what about your weekly regimen? You know you have to exfoliate and apply a mask twice a week but when exactly? And we bet more often than not, you forget it altogether, thanks to your jam-packed schedule.

To help you ease it out, we have made a weekly skincare calendar so you don’t miss out on showering your skin with all the care and love it deserves. Whether you want to reduce dark circles with an eye cream or control excessive oil, we’ve got you covered.

Monday: Cleanse + Tone + Moisturise

Mondays are hectic, plus you’re dealing with Monday blues, so let’s keep it simple. A usual CTM routine is enough to kick start your week, don’t load your skin with too many products.

Tuesday: Cleanse + Mask + Tone + Moisturise

Apart from masking, your skin also needs to be exfoliated twice a week, so scrub dead skin cells and deep set dirt off on this day. While you are at it, don’t ignore your eye area, this delicate part of your face requires moisturising too. After cleansing and exfoliating, apply a concern-specific face serum to get healthy and glowing skin.

Wednesday: Cleanse + Exfoliate + Serum + Eyes + Moisturise

Other than your regular cleansing, toning and moisturising, include a mask in your night time skincare routine. We suggest using a skin-specific face mask for best results. If you have oily skin look for a clay or charcoal based mask, and for dry skin use a hydrating sheet mask.

Homemade Apricot Face Scrub with Kernels Powder & Honey

Apricot Face Scrub is made by sifting and grinding dried apricot kernels until they are finely ground. This powder is often used for beauty products, particularly skincare products because of its ability to cause gentle abrasion that’s great for exfoliation.  This exfoliant effectively and gently removes damaged skin cells to promote the growth of new ones.

Rhassoul clay to draws out impurities

A natural mineral clay, the Rhassoul clay can only be sourced from Morocco’s Atlas Mountains. It has long been used for hair and skin, mainly because of its ability to take out impurities. It’s a great ingredient for shampoos, skin conditioners and soaps, plus other therapeutic products currently used by spas and salons. Aside from removing impurities, Rhassoul clay can also be used for deep cleansing, exfoliation, preventing oily skin, soothing irritated skin, and tightening large pores.

How to grind Apricot Face Scrub

You can grind apricot kernels into powder with a fast blender or even better Vitamix blender. The important thing is that you need blades that are thick and sturdy so you can grind hard beans or hard nuts.

Ingredients for Apricot Face Scrub

  • 2 tsp Apricot kernel powder (instructions how to make it below)
  • 1 tsp Rhassoul clay
  • 3 tsp maple syrup

Instructions

  • Start by grinding the apricot kernels in a fast blender if you bought the actual apricot kernel. You need to reduce it to a fine powder. I suggest you use a Vitamix or a ninja blender. It needs to be powerful enough to grind really hard nuts! If you managed to find apricot kernel powder, then of course not need to grind it!
  • Mix all the ingredients into a small bowl until they are well integrated. You may opt to whisk them, but just folding them in with a spatula will do.
  • Apply directly to the face and massage gently for a few minutes in small circular motions.
  • Rinse well with lukewarm water and apply your daily moisturizer.
  • You may store the leftovers in a small container for a few weeks as long as there is no contamination with water.
  • Sift the apricot kernel powder with a sieve. Read More………….

17 Men Who Really, Really Care About Their Skincare Routines

0

Skincare! It’s a thing we love, invest in, and like to talk (and argue) about—of course I want to know what you slather on your face every night that makes you glow like Beyoncé the next day. And while most of the people we hear from when it comes to beauty are women, dudes have a lot to say too.

We asked a bunch of guys about their routines. At first responses came in whispers, then in waves. Suddenly, men were divulging face mask schedules, extensive multi-step nighttime routines, exciting product discoveries, and elaborate beard care. It’s as if they had been waiting all along to discuss their lovingly curated rituals at length.

Here, 17 men share their skincare regimens.

Dan Cipriano, 31, Finance

I started getting into skincare at a young age because I had acne. I’m not afraid to admit that I had bad skin. It taught me a lot about myself and helped me recognize other qualities I had, but it also introduced me to a new skin care routine that I stick to today.

I tried anything and everything to fix my skin when I was younger. One day, I decided that all of the chemicals and medications weren’t doing me any good. I went cold turkey on acne medication and face washes. I honestly just started washing my face with warm water and added a very simple face lotion. Maybe I was growing out of my acne from a hormonal standpoint, but I also felt like I wasn’t treating my skin like it was a dirty car that needed to be waxed and polished daily. That really helped.

As my 20’s roared on, I started shaving every other day for exfoliation, and still maintained my simple routine of applying face lotion (I use Men’s Vaseline Extra Strength) post-shave or a warm water wash every morning. As my 30s approached, I introduced eye cream (Naturopathica Vitamin K Brightening Eye Serum) which I use for the dark circles and wrinkles (my wife tells me they’re called crow’s feet).
