Let's Talk About Chemical Peels and their types

There is a solution that removes dead skin cells and stimulates new cell growth. This is called Chemical peel. It improves your skin’s appearance by reducing spots due to aging and also evens out skin tone.

Types of Peels:

Superficial, Medium and Deep are the different types of peels. Superficial and medium are generally safe, provided that they are correctly done. The deep type of peels is riskier compared to the superficial and medium. But one thing that makes people swoon over deep peels is because it’s long-lasting and usually not repeated.

Superficial peels:

  • remove cells from the topmost part of the skin
  • apply the solution to the skin and leave it for few minutes
  • you may feel tightness on your skin for few hours after

Medium peels:

  • remove cells from the top and middle layers of skin
  •  apply the solution to the skin and leave it for few minutes
  • you may feel a burning or stinging sensation on your face
  • Some people notice that their skin turns brown or red for a couple of days
  • Usually, it takes six months before you completely recover

Deep peels:

Deeper layers of the skin are the target of this kind of peel

  • Anesthetic cream is usually used to numb the area
  •  Apply the solution and leave it on for 30 minutes
  • Swelling takes two weeks to disappear while redness takes three months
