We are all aware of the Korean obsession with healthy, glowing skin by now. Attaining this is not easy, and one must adhere to a variety of regimens. We were all taught as children to follow the three steps of skincare: cleansing, toning, and moisturizing. However, this includes essences, sheet masks, and serums. We’ve discussed the Koreans’ ten-step skincare routine. Take note.
Step 1: Cleanse with an oil-based cleanser.
The first cleanser used is an oil-based cleanser that removes impurities, dirty pores, make-up residue and protects the beneficial bacteria found on the skin’s lipid layer.
Step 2: Double cleansing
The second cleanser is water-based, which aids in the removal of any remaining oil from the previous step. Additionally, it aids in the removal of dirt and sweat and revitalizes your pores.
Step 3: Exfoliate
Exfoliating at least 2-3 times a week, depending on your dermatologist’s recommendation, helps improve skin tone and texture by removing dead skin cells and preventing pores from clogging. Exfoliating can be done with scrubs or chemical liquids, depending on your skin’s texture.
Step 4: Toner
A toner prepares the face for the subsequent steps by balancing the PH level of the skin.
Step 5: Essence
An essence, essentially a water-based serum and toner in one, will keep your skin hydrated and youthful. It is used to achieve bright, radiant skin that is free of unwanted pigmentation.
Step 6: Ampoule/serum
This step assists in rehydrating your skin by utilizing concentrated serums that target wrinkles, skin aging, dryness, and hyperpigmentation.
Step 7: Apply a sheet mask
This face-shaped mask is infused with serum and hydrating essence to nourish and moisturize the skin. It is suitable for all skin types.
Step 8: Eye cream
The skin around your eyes is the most delicate area of your face because the eye area is the first to show signs of wrinkles and aging; the eye cream aids in hydrating dry skin and promoting youthful, glowing skin.
