Headaches are a common condition that many people deal with on a daily basis. It can come in different levels, from uncomfortable to unbearable, which can affect the whole day. Although there is a large range of drugs to treat it, sometimes natural remedies can also be the solution.
- Drink water: Inadequate hydration may lead you to develop a headache. It can have been considered a common cause of headaches and may even impair concentration and cause irritability, making your symptoms seem even worse.
- Consumption of magnesium: Magnesium is an important mineral necessary for countless functions in the body, including blood sugar regulation and nerve transmission. Because of that, it is a safe, effective remedy for headaches.
- Avoid foods high in histamine: Histamine is a chemical found naturally in the body that plays a role in the immune, digestive, and nervous systems. It can also be found in specific foods like aged cheeses, fermented foods, beer, wine, smoked fish, and cured meats. For people that are sensitive to it, it may increase the risk of migraines.
- The use of essential oils: Essential oils are highly concentrated liquids that contain aromatic compounds from a variety of plants. There are many different options available easily in the market today and they can have many therapeutic benefits. Research suggests that peppermint, lavender, and eucalyptus essential oils are especially helpful when you have a headache. The suggestion is to try diffusing essential oils or rubbing a small amount of essential oil onto your wrists or temples.
- B-complex vitamins: B vitamins are a group of water-soluble micronutrients that play many important roles in your body. It has been proved by several studies that certain B vitamin supplements, including riboflavin (B2), folate, B12, and pyridoxine (B6) may reduce headache symptoms, being a safe, cost-effective way to naturally treat those symptoms.
