The skin is the body’s largest external organ and thus the most vulnerable to environmental damage. Whether you enjoy the outdoors or not, Ultraviolet(UV) exposure can affect you anywhere, including indoors and can cause damage. It is well established that even a 15-minute exposure to direct sunlight can have a detrimental effect on your skin.

Ultraviolet A (UVA) rays
It has the lowest energy level and affects only the inner cells of the skin’s top layer, including the dermis. Immediate tanning and sunburn are among the short-term effects. Premature aging, wrinkles, and certain types of skin cancer are all long-term effects.

Ultraviolet B (UVB) rays
UVB rays have a higher energy level than UVA rays and cause damage to the cells in the top layer of the skin. In the short term, delayed tanning, sunburn, and blistering may occur. Skin cancer‘s long-term effects may also contribute to premature aging.

Ultraviolet C (UVC) rays
UVC is a lesser-known wavelength that can damage the outermost cells in the skin’s top layer. In the short term, redness, ulcers, and severe burns may occur. In the long run, it can result in skin cancer and premature aging, but this is not a common occurrence.
