Natural Gemstones Are A Star Ingredient In Beauty Products

If you thought gemstones were only to be worn as jewellery, you are wrong. These pretty, sparkly semiprecious stones aren’t just reserved for fashion. Gemstones can and are being used in the beauty space too. And this isn’t some sort of new trend either. Gemstones are naturally occurring minerals and evidentially they have been used in many beauty formulations ever since they’ve been discovered by mankind.

The legendary Egyptian queen Cleopatra, known as one of the most beautiful woman the world has ever known, first made popular the use of glow-boosting gemstones for beautifying purposes as she used them in her beauty rituals for intense healing and anti-ageing benefits. History states that chunks of gold and rose quartz were placed in her bath water to create her very own crystal-infused water to bathe with to reap their varied beautifying benefits.

Egyptians would also create eyeshadow by mixing powdered malachite with animal fat or vegetable oils to create a rich green pigment to dress their eyelids with. Women in Mesopotamia would use crushed gemstones like rubies and others to add lustrous colour and shimmer to their lips which was their own luxurious form of lipstick.

Other than possessing natural minerals due to its all-organic composition, natural crystals are also said to have an effect on the chakras within your body and helps balance them in order to positively impact mental health and boost one’s mood. This is the reason why spas use gemstones in various methods for holistic healing purposes. Jade rollers and GuaSha tools are also made of gemstones because it is believed to have healing and calming benefits for the skin.
