Liposuction removes body fat that is difficult to lose through work-out and diet. We usually do Lipo in areas where the fat tends to accumulate, like buttocks, hips, and tummy.
How is it done?
- The surgeon marks the area where the fat is to be removed.
- The surgeon injects the solution containing anesthesia.
- Using vibrations, laser, or water jet, the fat cells are broken down.
- A small incision is made then a tube is inserted, which is attached to a vacuum machine. If the area is large, multiple incisions are made.
- The tube is moved back and forth to loosen the fat and suck it out.
- Excess fluid and blood are drained afterward.
- Lastly, you need to suture the incised skin and cover it with a bandage. You need to wear the compression bandage for few weeks after the operation. The doctor will prescribe antibiotics to avoid any infection, and if required, he will give you pain relievers.
Recovery reminders
- Ask a person to be with you for 24 hours after the operation.
- You can not drive immediately. Ask your doctor about how long it will take before you can go again.
- Take off the bandage when you take a shower.
- Avoid doing an extreme activity for at least a month. Walking and general movement are generally allowed.
