Everything You Need to Know About Fire and Ice Procedure

The Fire and Ice procedure is a combination of two FDA Cleared non-surgical technologies for skin tightening and permanent fat reduction. Fire and Ice treatment combines the two best non-surgical, non-invasive devices for treating the body and face.

The fire is BTL Exilis Ultra™ a heat based technology that uses radiofrequency (RF) and ultrasound to help tighten the skin. The ice is CoolSculpting®, a cold-based technology that freezes fat to help reduce unwanted volume. Both devices are used to address several concerns in a single treatment.

What Are The Benefits Of The Fire & Ice Procedure?

These are both body contouring procedures, degrading or destroying fat cells. BTL Exilis is also a skin tightening procedure. By combining the two treatments, the different methods complement each other. CoolSculpting destroys up to a quarter of the fat cells. Exilis initiates skin tightening through enhanced collagen production.

This is the best of both procedures — you lose up to a quarter of the fat and your skin tightens down and firms in the area of the fat loss. This combination improves upon either procedure in isolation.

Am I A Candidate For Fire & Ice Treatment?

Everyone has stubborn pockets of unwanted fat that are virtually impossible to target with changes in diet and exercise alone. Also, as we age our collagen production continues to drop to the point that at 50 we’re producing 30 percent less collagen than when we were 20. Since collagen provides the skin’s natural underlying support structure, this allows the skin to sag and become visibly loose.

If you have pockets of stubborn fat and the skin laxity that comes with aging, the combination that is Fire and Ice at BodiSculpting Specialists is the perfect option.

How Do Fire And Ice Treatments Work?

First, we begin with the BTL Exilis Ultra. This is the “fire” portion. The BTL Exilis handpiece is moved over the treatment area. It delivers a combination of radiofrequencyand ultrasound energy down through the epidermis into the dermis layer of the skin. These two energies convert to heat energy when in the dermis. It triggers a wound response in the dermis, where new collagen is produced to “heal” the wound. This tightens and firms the skin.

Second, we perform CoolSculpting. CoolSculpting uses controlled cooling to freeze the fat cells in the treatment area. About 20% of the fat cells in the treatment zone will die. This is the “Ice” portion of your treatment.
