You’ll pay a bit more per month for Aloe Care than you will for other medical alert systems, but in return you get voice-activated calling, environmental sensors, a well-designed mobile app, and a hands-free two-way communication hub. That makes it our new Editors’ Choice for at-home medical alert systems, replacing the MobileHelp Classic.
Equipment and Pricing
The Essentials system comes with a smart hub base station that uses AT&T’s 4G LTE cellular service and a 1.5-inch-wide water-resistant pendant button with a 200-foot range that can be worn as a necklace or on your wrist. The circular smart hub measures 1.7 by 6.7 by 6.5 inches (HWD) and has a matte white finish. The center of the device holds a 2.7-inch dark gray Assistance button, an LED ring, and four smaller buttons.
The Assistance button is used to connect you to the 24/7 Aloe Care emergency response center, or you can place a call by saying, “Emergency,” repeatedly until the voice assistant responds.
If you want to reach out to your primary caregiver or any member of your Care Circle (friends, family, or other caregivers), you can use the smaller buttons to request a check-in call. The phone button marked 1 is used to place a check-in request to only your primary caregiver, and the phone button with the number 2 is used to place a check-in request to all of the people in your Care Circle.
Once either button is pressed, a push notification will be sent to the people in your Care Circle, and when a caregiver responds, the hub will play a chime and the LED ring will blink blue. You can then speak directly to the caregiver using the hub’s microphone and speaker. Read more..
